Expanding the Developer Ecosystem: Nova Patcher & NovaGPI¶
It has been a busy two weeks for the Nova Suite developer ecosystem. We are excited to announce the rollout of two major service updates: Nova Patcher, our streamlined application update system, and NovaGPI, a new GIF Programmable Interface designed for high-performance media search.
Together with these releases, we have also updated the Nova DevCon dashboard to provide a unified management experience for these new capabilities.
📦 Nova Patcher: Seamless Application Updates¶
Nova Patcher is our response to the challenges of desktop software distribution. It allows developers to manage the entire lifecycle of their applications, from initial alpha builds to global production releases.
Key features include: - Release Channels: Manage distinct deployment tracks for alpha, beta, and production. - Flexible Update Actions: Choose between standard replace, clean_install, or executing external installers (e.g., .msi). - Display Modes: Control user interruptions with active, passive, or silent update notifications. - Marketplace Integration: Fully integrated with the Nova Marketplace to ensure users always have the latest version of your software.

🖼️ NovaGPI: The GIF Programmable Interface¶
With the launch of NovaGPI, we are introducing a dedicated API for GIF discovery and integration. Powered by a high-performance backend and a curated database of media sourced from across the web, NovaGPI makes it easy to add rich media searching to any application.

- Free Tier: 15,000 requests per month included for all developers.
- Search Capabilities: Query by text, tags, author, and media type.
- Developer Tracking: Integrated usage monitoring directly in the DevCon dashboard.

🛠️ DevCon Dashboard Updates¶
To support these new services, we have overhauled the Nova DevCon dashboard. You can now manage your Nova Patcher releases and monitor your NovaGPI usage from a single, unified interface.

- Application Registry: A cleaner interface for managing App IDs and credentials.
- Usage Tracking: Real-time visualization of your API consumption across all Nova services.
- Patcher Console: A dedicated space for uploading build manifests and promoting releases between channels.
